MTC Federal Announces 5 Year Partnership with Mauldin High School to Empower Students with Financial Literacy

Greenville, SC - MTC Federal Credit Union is proud to announce a new 5-year partnership with Mauldin High School in support of their latest initiative, Reality Check. This live financial literacy simulation provides high school students with the opportunity to learn valuable lessons on how to manage their finances in a safe and controlled environment.

Reality Check is a hands-on learning experience that offers students a chance to make informed financial decisions and understand the consequences of those decisions in real-time. Upon entering the event, students will be given a career, a monthly salary, and a unique set of circumstances. From there, they will navigate 15 booths where they will have to make a number of financial decisions. The booths cover everyday expenses from housing and transportation to taxes and insurance. Each student will independently make decisions that make the most sense for their unique situation.

MTC Federal Credit Union is committed to providing financial education to the communities it serves. This partnership with Mauldin High School reinforces that commitment by investing in the next generation as the official Financial Education Sponsor. Through this partnership, MTC Federal hopes to empower students with the knowledge and skills they need to make sound financial decisions and achieve financial success.

MTC Federal Credit Union and Mauldin High School will kick off this partnership with the first Reality Check event on March 31, 2023. The program will be available to approximately 300 Mauldin High School students and expected to grow each year thereafter.
